My buddy Zelda has very strong opinions on this stuff. A reminder that her dad left explicit instructions that he did NOT want corporations to be able to do this to him and that means us too. The bare minimum here is to respect the wishes of those who said NO.

Work/Life Balance is essential for a writer. Your brain is the whole deal. If you're tired, exhausted, unhappy, or all three, you're not going to be writing at your best. Be sure to take days off, don't beat yourself up for not making your pages, and get the rest you deserve. Fuck hustle culture.

I tell people that the problem is not coming up with ideas, I think of a couple dozen of them a day. The real problem is knowing which of the damn things is any good for writing up. Most of them are junk. I have to let them roll around in my brain a while to find out which is which.

I don't think they intend to actually make it work. It's most likely just more empty promises to fuel speculation, because that's where the money is.

another annoying issue with AI creeping its slop into everything is the AUTHOR INBOX. i always got emails tryin to sell things, but lately email has almost become unusable thanks to AI ads pitching 'get LUCKY DAY to the bestseller list' all of them clearly scraping the book blurb for their AI pitch
