Yesterday my father passed. David Rider Leonard Worthington, March 30th 1945 to October 4th 2025. He is survived by his four siblings, wife, three children and four grandchildren. A pioneer in Silicon Valley he worked at many historic companies such as Stanford Research Institute (SRI), Silicon Graphics Inc (SGI), Sun Microsystems among many others. As a young man he traveled the world. He got to see the sun rise and moon set simultaneously while riding a train in the plains of India, consumed opium to deal with travelers sickness while in South East Asia and collected many African souvenirs while he traveled across the continent. With my mom he spent a few years living in Guam. He valued truth and democracy and was a vigorous consumer of the news. He taught me how to read and think critically regardless of source. It did not matter if he was reading the newspaper, watching tv or listening to AM radio in the car, he would always talk back and explain what the report had gotten wrong, left out or purposefully distorted. He was a loving husband, great father and loved his grandchildren. I will miss him dearly.
