Basically. Happosai is the old pervert archetype without any of the redeeming qualities. Just an odious creep.

It makes for a comic that never tries to convince you there is anything excusable about being a sex offender, but also, a recurring character has nothing likeable or redeemable about them.

Gundams keep having Char clones when they really should be having Jerid clones. There's more to get invested in with a character who is personally motivated by things to fight the protagonists, over a villain largely defined by being enigmatic.

I expected it to get Cpl. Adrian Shepard, but when it asked "is the character associated with the color green?" I knew it had me.

(You have to deal with the author's bondage nun fetish—healing, punishment, AND greetings involve bondage—but the sheer amount of research into 16C Church politics makes it *almost* worth it.)

Interesting idea, but two pitfalls to design around come to mind:
1: Instead of picking a weapon for my character, I pick a build for the best weapon.
2. I can't keep up because no good weapon for my build has dropped for like ten levels, and I'm bad with the rest. (See point #1.)

It's very funny to have this attitude when your brand hasn't even been the dominant home console since the mid-90s. Nintendo wins out overall because of its near total dominance of the handheld market (ignoring, for the moment, cellphones), but if someone had *one* console growing up, it was a Sony.

There's a line in Deus Ex' design document that explicitly notes that dialogue should be more like console (read: Japanese) RPGs than the parser-based stuff on PC (read: western) to feel less clunky and more immersive.

There's no connection between Ultima: Underworld and Deus Ex! None whatsoever!
