I'm at a point where I just suspect collider bias is responsible for everything. Unexpected association? Collider bias. Lost my keys? Collider bias. General sense of creeping existential dread? Collider bias.

Given discussions at I had at #ESCMIDGlobal, it might be useful for new researchers to know how a journal editor screens submissions (obviously this is my approach and so it might differ for others).

Some colleagues I worked with described the first version of any piece of (especially collaborative) writing as the 'sacrificial draft'.

It will inevitably be destroyed, but will hopefully lead to something better.

⚠️WANTED⚠️ Dirty datasets that can be used in training courses! Have you got any great examples of datasets (preferably CC0 or CC-BY) that you think demonstrate some of the key issues with dirty data? I'm interested in teaching how to improve data collection, & about cleaning data once you have it. πŸ“Š

If you don't mind me asking, what made the difference in publishing compared to academia?

Two photos of Anna, a young white woman using an electric wheelchair, wearing a blue lab coat that fits her well with tables and dry-lab equipment in the background. Text reads: "A team of researchers and designers led by UCL is looking for wheelchair users working in wet lab environments to user-test what is believed to be the first-ever prototype of a lab coat adapted for wheelchair users."

Do you know a UK-based wheelchair user who works in a lab and would be willing to user-test our prototype of what is believed to be the first-ever lab coat adapted for wheelchair users?

This place seems great but I've barely been here a week and my "to read" list is expanding at an unsustainable rate.
