The SBIR program has not been renewed by Congress and therefore THERE ARE NO SBIR applications at NIH or elsewhere. NIH can't even issue "noncompeting continuation awards for existing projects until the SBIR/STTR program is reauthorized."

America is giving up on small business and Science.

This is an average inflation rate of 3.6%. 1950-1975 (2.4%), 1975-2000 (5.5%), 2000-2025 (3%). This devaluation of the USD is primarily due to excess inflation in the 80s.

Quit confounding those in administrative positions with "leadership". It is possible that administrators (In academia read as Provost, Dean, Department Heads) lead, but in my experience it is much more likely that they are just not going to make waves. This makes them bad leaders.

Yes, I'm a white able bodied male. That is not something to create shame. The message chain has nothing to do with race, sex, or disability.

Did anything in your posts have to do with race or disability? This message chain is rediculous. You go after a fake enemy (professors as a entity) then attack the one person who engaged telling them they are too white and able bodied to understand. Goodbye

The scenario being described is not accurately portraying any professor I've ever met. We assign grades based on what was earned.

Your message suggests that faculty assign grades on something other than knowledge. Hard classes are not an attempt to lower GPAs or put students in their place, but instead, focused on ensuring that knowledge is gained. I'd encourage introspection.

The $40 Billion going to Argentina is equal to 83% of the entire NIH budget that supports health research throughout our country.

Yep, no one sould be killed, but what they believed should affect how they are remembered. I'll remember him based on what he said and wish punishment on anyone who caused an early death.

Legend David Baltimore died yesterday. He understood the way things should work: "the real contribution of MIT is that it doesn't take itself too seriously. It takes ideas seriously, but the people are relatively informal. They are not self-aggrandizing the way academics can be."

Looking for a postdoc! We have a recently funded NIH T32 and would love for you to work with our faculty to apply. Reach out to me and let me know your area of interest. I'll put you in touch with faculty with that expertise. My expertise is mechanistic studies of fatty liver and diabetes.

Way too many people in academia act like their job is a Game of Throwns. This job would be so much more enjoyable if we worked toward common goals.

There is no replacement (yet) for animal models in medical research The NIH is β€œreducing animal use in research.” But there is no replacement for animal models.

It is beyond disturbing when the NIH and HHS Directors do not understand that animal models are essential in research
