I used to be a Daily listener and so am glad to see this utter rot come up in appropriately critical context here rather than in my podcast feed.

I really do think we need to see the rape and abuse of women and children as not like a peculiar indulgence or hypocrisy of the right, but as a foundational practice from which their worldview proceeds. Rape is the metaphor from which they draw their other conclusions about domination and hierarchy.

I know antifa isn't a real organization because I don't get 40 texts a week from them asking for donations.

It's baffling! I once took someone's phone out of their hands to set it to silent when they claimed, "It's a new phone, I don't know how." They could have sat in any other car of the train to have a text conversation with the sound on! (*ding!* tippity-type *whoosh* *ding!* tippity-type *whoosh*)

Thinking about the phrase "political violence" and the number of people who've died on Rikers Island in just the last month.

"Political violence" is a term that exists to suggest a moral distinction between "violence against politicians" and "violence by politicians" - so that one can be condemned while the other can be normalized. Obviously, no such distinction exists in reality: violence is violence.

to my mind the woman who dies of sepsis because of antiabortion laws, or the person who dies because they can't afford insulin -- these are just as much victims of political violence as the man shot through the throat while making a racist speech
