Time to party, Oct 17th Tesco sewing club is 1 year old! Everyone welcome whether you’re a regular, a previous attendee, an attendee of another session or have never been before!
There will be cake. Whether it is fancy home made cake or something I grabbed from the shop depends how Thursday goes.

The little bit of plastic that helps you go smoothly over bumps in your sewing.

Any version of the Readers Digest Book of Sewing is well worth the shelf space. I have 3 or 4 now and even the oldest has relevant information, just very dated photos.

No idea what a Frankie hat is but of course you can make dungarees if you want to!

House quiet, feels like forever since I had it to myself! It is bliss! I could do some sewing but I have control of the TV so could sit and find a box set to binge but what? Remind me in a couple of weeks that I spent the summer getting frustrated at them taking over my spaces and tell me to work.

What do you call yourself when referring to your sewing?
Why do you use that term?
I prefer sewer because it’s the term I’ve known since childhood but don’t care what others use (as long as they’ve not calling themselves a tailor unless they really are 😀). #sewing

This fabulous skirt made from a gorgeous wax print was finished this week, it’s this sewers first garment and she did brilliantly!

No time to put it on for a photo so it’s just being held up against the body but just look at the level waistband and neat pocket edges! #sewingclass #sewingteacher

Each piece has a letter and the number of pieces that size on it in chalk to make it easy to identify them, the chalk will wash out but while it’s there also helps us ensure all the pieces are used with the same side facing out.

This young adult has started making a bag at Friday Sewing club, a week ago we worked out the pieces it would take then last Friday we marked out all those pieces direct on the fabric (a cotton drill) and got them cut out and stacked ready to start sewing next time.

You’ve seen the ‘too busy socialising to get any sewing done post’ well here’s a ‘got loads of brilliant sewing done’ post! Last week we cut a half circle skirt with pockets & constructed the pockets, this week she’s assembled the skirt including her first ever zip and checked it fits. #sewing

Sometimes Friday sewing club is so much fun that absolutely no sewing gets done. None at all. Not a single stitch. The fabric came out, the machine was threaded, the chatting started and suddenly it was time to pack everything away again. 4 hours later! 😂😂😂😂

Don’t fill the bobbin every time. You get better at judging how much you will need but here’s half filled bobbin for a shirt and what was left on it when I finished which will be used for hand finishing so none wasted at all
