They actually had already programmed an enemy they called "skunk" with the same(ish) model and slightly different functionally, which they ended up cutting from the game later in service of these guys.

I still don't know why the name "pill" shows up internally for these guys (as well as the rats). Is it short for something? Is it referring to their pill-like body shape? Will we ever know...?

i have about 146 hours of playtime recorded for antonblast and somehow i've NEVER seen this little detail in the Jewel Ghoul boss fight. if you stay idle next to a Cartoons, Anton will just stare at them angrily while Annie acts all like "get a load of THIS guy".

i love this game so much.

it definitely plays worse, just in general. the subtlety and design intention of the original games' various gameplay mechanics and interactions are just not there. no homework was done, it's a very surface-level aping of the games.

it wasn't designed with holding clutch in mind in the first place. it making the fight easier is an accident we accepted. that perspective is founded on such bad faith... the vast majority of people like the game, and that fight, and updates where criticism is addressed are not proof the game is bad

it is completely valid game design to want players to figure out controls on their own. this is, in fact, how nearly every videogame works.

Context: newest beta update broke the YYC under a specific condition relating to the ternary operation. I don't think the changelogs mention any change to those and this seems like just poor integrated testing... now I "have" to try to repro and then send a ticket to GameMaker.

Does the GameMaker team just not have unit tests or something...
