Nothing on the BBC Radio news this morning. Nothing I could find on their website. This is an MP from the party whose lead in the opinion polls normally ensures them wall-to-wall coverage. She spouts racist nonsense for which even she feels obliged to apologise. What on earth are they playing at?

Agreed, but I doubt that the narrative around why it will happen will include any mea culpa that they shouldn’t have had no tax rises in ten manifesto in the 1st place. I expect no political savvy from Labour at this stage & now strongly fear the rise of Reform at the next gen election.

Isn’t this just going to lead to more empty properties in London that are just bought by offshore investment funds?

Yes, but needs to be embraced across the sector. We’ve tolerated the “Just good enough” and “This is the way it’s always been” approach for far too long. Every leader in housing needs to take a long hard look at those that keep saying “We can’t do that” or “It won’t work for us”

Yes, which is why it’s been refreshing to hear a housing provider CEO actually state that he’s actively looking to manage these sorts of people out of his org.

Shamefully, many of these sorts of roadblocks to change are management. The crisis we are under in the sector is so acute that it’s now a leadership challenge to ensure our teams are built for transformation and there should be no place for the ‘This is how we’ve always done it’ brigade.

I was at a CEO’s briefing not long ago was encouraged to hear leaders actively saying that they are now looking to manage out the percentage of staff who actively block change. Either through inertia, intransigence or wilful blockage it’s time these people were removed from our orgs.

Whilst shocking this doesn’t surprise me. There are too many people who either are content with ‘just good enough’ (itself a massive problem) or who have been doing the job soo long they know how to play the system to do as little as possible to get by. It’s time we cleaned house in social housing.

I attended many football matches during the 80’s as I was a passionate B’ham City Fan. I was at St Andrews when the wall collapsed killing fans during stadium wide violence. Away games in the midlands always involved extreme crowd violence, leaving games was a gauntlet. Jenrick is a tool.
