trauma can do a lot of things. pretty sure it won't usually make you cruel in a way that you must constantly resist, and also that if it does that is what is known as a symptom, not a character trait.

thoroughly freaked out when ppl say "i'm traumatized so ppl are lucky i choose decency every day, which i don't have to and should be congratulated for" (approximately). i'm traumatized and i don't remember ever having had to choose not to be cruel, because i didn't get cruel from trauma.
