Journalists without a sense of irony cheering opponents on and happily parroting misinformation, then complain when costs rise due to mitigation and court costs. 2/2

I can't see the planning reform making any difference. Local authorities will always find means to delay and add costs. Just feels like we're doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past 17 years. 1/3

Seems Staffordshire is going to be Chilterns take 2, doing everything in its power, to delay, curtail and ultimately make any new link more expensive.

Already seen a video of a Waymo car setting off with too many passengers. Not only does that invalidate the insurance, a licenced driver risks losing their licence if they did that. Seems the Gov is willing to turn a blind eye all in the name of pandering to tech giants

I think there has been some confusion about its final position. It can be quite difficult to explain how all of the separate viaducts link together. Especially as the Curzon No. Viaducts are separated by Lawley Middleway and Duddeston Jn hasn't been given a number.

Nah, why invest when they can just blame all problems on 'corporate greed'. They can spend the next 5 years claiming they're undoing the damage done by privatisation when services don't magically improve over night

That's what I thought. I've never heard any major complaints about the Cross City Network. It doesn't seem any worse than the current TOCs which are already run by the government and are currently providing a very poor service.

Blaming "corporate greed" is easier than blaming years of under investment I guess.

It's not even about infrastructure. It's just about Labour blaming everything on private companies and over selling the benefits of "nationalisation"

There seems something incredibly disingenuous about blaming "private companies" for all of rail's ills. This also inadvertently puts a lot of pressure on GBR to deliver. But as we know from the TOCs already "nationalised", direct control alone is not a silver bullet.

There's still a bit of daylight left to enjoy the view on my way home. Long day, but I got lucky with the weather.

There are only a few 1st class services a day, which are the loco hauled services. Standard plus on the 197s has been permanently declassified because the disabled loo is no where near the standard plus seating

Unsurprising, given gas sometimes still accounts for around half of electricity generation. This is why curtailing investment in renewable and nuclear would actually drive up prices, even if we increased North Sea gas production or allowed fracking. Gas will always be a tradeable commodity.
