Northern are desperate waiting for TfW's 158s, but 24 units won't go far. Wonder if TfW's 158s would be compatible with TRU ETCS, could be an interesting way to test the new signalling

I had heard Northern were looking at 350s, but the article seems to suggest cascades are off the cards. I know all TfW's are going for scrap as they need a C6 overhaul. Not sure about Northern's 150s, but they were showing their age 10 years ago.

Exciting times ahead for Northern. The 15Xs have been true workhorses, but they've had their day. The question now is can manufacturers deliver reliable, low flow, multi mode vehicles in a timely manner.

Exactly. The problem isn't that houses are being built on greenbelt, it's that developers are only interested in building £300-500k 4-5 bedroom houses with no solar panels in car dependent Islands. If developers do build on brownfield it's usually with after LA's have paid to have the land cleared
