We urge you to remain neutral and respect the desire expressed by food service workers at Meta offices in Bellevue and Redmond, WA, who are employed by Lavish Roots, to organize a union without fear, intimidation and employer interference. Many of the workers preparing and serving food and drink to Meta employees are our constituents and we support them as they organize for basic safety, stability, equality and respect. Dear Mr. Zuckerberg, Mr. LaVielle, and Ms. Seth: I recently learned that Lavish Roots employees are organizing a union with UNITE HERE Local 8. These workers prepare and serve meals for workers at Meta Platforms offices in Seattle, Bellevue, and Redmond. I have heard from my constituents that they are asking for higher wages to meet the cost of living, better and more affordable healthcare, and standards to promote safety, stability, equality and respect on the job. I have also heard that workers have called on Lavish Roots and Meta Platforms to remain neutral in this process and respect workers’ right to organize. Given that it is the policy of the United States to facilitate collective bargaining under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), I respectfully urge you to work collaboratively with UNITE HERE Local 8 and bargain in good faith to reach a fair contract in a timely manner if the union is recognized. It is my belief that coming to a timely agreement will benefit both parties involved. I will continue to follow this process closely and appreciate your attention to this pressing matter.
