UK politics is messier than a group chat during election season.
New parties on the rise. Old grudges remain.
There's drama on the Left. And Right.
What does it all mean for us migrants?
@chxta.bsky.social and I discuss it all here: shorturl.at/JH2Z6
Thought I’d share a little poetry for your timeline.

Studies suggest that the biggest reason most people leave countries like #Nigeria for countries like #Britain is to create a better future for their children.
What then happens when a random act of violence shatters that dream? @ndonuoha.bsky.social & I discuss.
A few hours after recording this episode with Cheta, the news of the US strike against Iran dropped.
What does the Isreal/Iran/US conflict mean for African heritage communities in the UK?
We talk about it on the latest episode of #TheBlackPaper👇🏾

Only a few people in the past few years can lay claim to shaping the media narrative in Nigeria’s South East. Gaius is one of them.
Yesterday we had a great time catching up and talking about our separate journeys and ideas about telling our own stories.
Ya kpọtụba. 💪🏾
A huge thank you to the Pastor and leadership of RCCG Selly Oak Birmingham, for inviting me to speak about my journey in politics in the UK.
We cannot, and must not afford to be ignorant about our place in politics.

Almost 6 hours later, and a budget has been passed for Derby City Council. It was not the budget we proposed, but it’s a balanced budget nonetheless.

I had the honour of catching up with Gov @alexottiofr & Dep. Gov Ikechukwu Emetu. We discussed their vision for Abia’s development, future ambitions, and my election as a councillor in Derby.
Abia is in very safe hands.
The one reason I’ve never intentionally rewatched Sound of Music is the character of Rolf Gruber.
I found it disturbing how quickly someone close to you would turn on you in service of the overlord. This is what I see in Trump’s America today. It is heartbreaking. And scary.

16.01.2025 16:54 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It was great to catch up with Mrs Caley, the Headteacher of Murray Park Community School.
I look forward to working with you and the team for the benefit of the children and families in the Mackworth and New Zealand ward that the school serves.
Thanks to Business Day Ng for publishing my piece on Kemi Badenoch’s recent misyarn. As sure as death and taxes, it won’t be her last.

"While there is truth in her comments, the problem lies in how she has said them, who she has said them about, and, crucially, the potential unintended consequences of her words."
My article on Kemi and the politics of 'talking anyhow.'

I love the dialogues in Black Doves.
It’s witty and engaging in a way that feels like if Guy Richie decided to write his dialogues in newsroom English. 😅

06.12.2024 10:12 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0From 1st December, our PCSOs will also be empowered to also seize these illegal road vehicles.
We’re creating a Derby people will continue to be proud of.

Big Up to everyone who has made this happen - our Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts and her team, Derbyshire Constabulary, our Derby City Centre Police SNT team, Derby City Council’s communities team, and the council cabinet.

Great news today as 30 illegal e-scooters and motorised bikes were seized in the city centre.

Can't stop, won't stop the campaign to Big Up Derby!

Glad to see our campaign is getting some traction. It’s been a while coming, but we’re getting there.
Now that the Council’s traffic department has agreed that a controlled crossing on this road is needed, we'll stay on them to deliver.

I am glad that on the night, some opposition leaders kindly accepted my invitation to take a picture with our 'Big Up Derby' sign to show that, at least on this one matter, we are on the same page.
Big Up Derby!

It is my hope that my statement sparked something in us to take a step back from the often combative nature of politics and, even if only briefly, recognise that our city is stronger when we act together in its upliftment.
22.11.2024 22:14 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0And let’s not forget our partners. From our academic institutions to our businesses, and from community groups to faith leaders, we must 'Big Up' the institutions that make Derby what it is.
22.11.2024 22:14 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0And I wanted to 'Big Up' Derby City. This resilient city has experienced its share of ups and downs but has kept on going. It is a city of industry, creativity, community, and pride. It is a city that deserves our support and commitment. Whenever we have the chance, we must 'big it up'.
22.11.2024 22:14 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0These individuals perform an almost thankless job daily, yet sometimes political mischief means we only discuss them when we want to draw attention to things that don't go according to plan.
So I wanted to 'big them up' for a change.
I also spoke about how we are addressing these challenges and my hope of returning to update the full council on our progress in the future.
The main focus of my statement, however, was not to talk about my portfolio but to highlight the incredible people who do the work that keeps our city moving.
