Tim Moore talks about it in his book, to be honest I can't remember much about the incident....but if you haven't read it do, it's wonderful, he rode the 1941 vuelta route during COVID on a 70s bike...it's very funny and educational in a non boring way

There was quite a few similar characters on Derby parks department when I started in 85.
A bloke retired just after I started, there from a teenager so he must have started in the 1920s .
Told tales of mowing with horses and taking tools on the bus.
His 1st job was lighting the head gardeners fire
