I got blocked by ChatGTP twice in one hour. Yes, I want to target RNA structure, that is my job. No, I do not want to harm people nor design a super virus bioweapon. While I should probably be happy this safety check is in place, I happily dive into the literature myself...

We had a fantastic time at the Ribo-Seq workshop in Bonn. Thanks so much, Kathrin @katleppek.bsky.social and Ranen, for organizing! We learned a lot, and we're excited to use Ribo-Seq in future projects.

So far the feedback has been enthusiastic! The group is working on a wide variety of sample sets from diverse origins and biological questions in this first-of-its-kind practical course in the Cluster. We are very grateful for the support to teach immunologists how to study translation.

Last Friday, we had an inspiring 10th Rhineland RNA Club meeting with top class speakers. It's great to see how the community is growing and the range of topics we're covering. Special thanks to Didier Stainier @stainierlab.bsky.social Simon Bekker-Jensen @bekkerjensenlab.bsky.social, Ranen Aviner!

Ranen Aviner is a @mpiage.bsky.social MPI sabbatical fellow shared in @inahuppertz.bsky.socialβ€˜s and my lab and is spending a 3-month sabbatical from Sept-Dec in our labs in Bonn/Cologne. He is also on the job market this cycle and every US institute will be lucky to recruit him. www.aviner-lab.org

Snapshot of the Correspondence titled 'Translon: a single term for translated regions'

Snapshot of the Correspondence titled 'Translon: a single term for translated regions'

Many transcriptome regions are translated but not known to encode proteins. They remain poorly annotated and thus under studied, partly due to the lack of terminology for these features.

In @natmethods.nature.com we propose using "Translon" for any region decoded by the ribosome
