It will be very strange - and sad - to witness this season without my good friend Bob Uecker. His legacy lives on, and my fandom of @milwaukeebrewers.bsky.social is a reflection of that.

But no matter how many bad things are happening, baseball is there to help us through it.

So a PhD student on a legal visa is arrested by masked federal agents without notice and is sent to a detention center over 1000 miles away, because... of what she wrote?

Beyond awful.

Also, sheer hypocrisy by the supposed anti-mask, anti-cancel-culture party.

Shocking.

I watched two speeches by North American leaders yesterday. One showed great care and compassion for the American people, and one did the exact opposite.

Yes, folks: We live in a world where the Canadian PM Justin Trudeau cares more for the American people than our own President does.

The situation:
-Bully beats up kid.
-Bully's friend offers to help, but ONLY IF he gets something in return (i.e. extortion)
-Bullied kid says "Can't you just make him stop?"
-Bully's friend (also a bully) says "You're in a bad position! You need to thank ME for helping you."

I'm absolutely petrified watching what's happening right now. That godawful display today by Trump and Vance was embarrassing, scary, and pathetic. I was actually moved to tears of sorrow watching that. I feel so much for Zelenskyy and Ukraine. He showed grace and patience.

What can we do?

Best player on the team. Build around Deni. He is the keystone. He is the answer.

You guys need to see this and take it in…

And by the way, this in NO WAY condones what we're seeing from that awful man. It's just to say that we are in a crisis in terms of the massive numbers of people who are ignorant of the facts, gullible for "charisma", and ill-informed of the true threat this regime brings. This is frightening.

In 2016, maybe one could argue that people "didn't know."

But now...what can be said?

Everything that happened yesterday...Is that on the narcissist who sits on the throne, or is it now on the millions of people who put him there? The people who ignored the disturbing evidence, against all logic?

Summers just got a lot colder.

Bob Uecker was a treasure. So funny, so full of life, and so full of love for the Brewers and for the beautiful game of baseball.

Everyone loved Bob. And I mean everyone.

I'm gutted by this news. I'm going to miss him so much.

This has been a tough few weeks...
