The East Wing was built in 1902 & rebuilt in 1942, long after asbestos was used as a fire retardant. So, I’m sure the White House took steps to prevent a known carcinogen from entering the air during the current willy-nilly demolition.

WOW: The White House says the president's MAIN PRIORITY is his BALLROOM. SNAP is ending. Subsidies for health care are gong to double and in some instances quadruple plan premiums. The government is shut down. The cost of living is through the roof. And his priority is his ballroom.

Governor JB Pritzker just sounded the alarm bells about Trump’s plan to steal the midterms and maybe even CANCEL them:

I think any teacher can tell you that every year schools pay a LOT of money to bring in consultants to deliver the NEXT NEW THING. These things are all the rage but NOT always evidence-based. MAYBE stick with things that work and get better at it? AND give teachers time to plan and practice.

Lots of US companies have done lots of dreadful things to Americans. But the symbolism of paying to destroy the White House is hard to top.

2/4!🙃 The worst thing to happen to Education happened under Bush/Obama when “standards” were written. The so-called standards aren’t. Standards. They are LONG lists of pet peeves and personal opinions of what’s important. It all TOO much for kids to remember any of it. Teach CORE things WELL.

AND I’m so happy you are focused on this. I heard you on Daily Beans. I’ve thought about this for decades and wanted to get these points to you.

Many people have made their careers on those standards and won’t want to revamp the core foundation of how this curriculum is built.

AND the Texas standards known as TEKS (aka their pet peeves and lists) which you can find online are the dominate standards in the country because textbook marketers need big markets. Yes, California and New York come into that but they are secondary to TX.
