Trump Administration Aims to Redefine ‘Harm’ for Endangered Species Trump officials have proposed changing a decades-old interpretation of a key word in the Endangered Species Act, which would make it much easier to log, build or drill for oil.

A proposed rule, issued on Wednesday from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, would repeal a longstanding interpretation of what it means to "harm" imperiled plants and animals to exclude the destruction of habitat.

6,100 acres could be added to Big Bend National Park The bill would give the NPS permission to expand up to that 6,100 acres as long as it stays within the means specified.

“The order allows the U.S. Department of Interior and Department of Agriculture to bypass the Endangered Species Act protections to ramp up timber sales, ultimately resulting in the clear-cutting of massive tracts of federal forests.“

Hoh Rain Forest might not be able to open this summer due to road washout The road to the Hoh Rain Forest has been closed since December.

One of the country’s largest temperate rainforest and ancestral home of the Hoh peoples is inaccessible and yet again the Trump administration shows they have zero interest in our public lands. They’ll rebuild the road to send in the log trucks I’m sure.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park may lose more staffers after at least 12 have been let go National Park Service morale is “as low as it's ever been” amid abrupt staffing cuts, a former Smokies staffer said.

GSMNP is our nation’s most visited park. It’s located within a day’s drive of over half the US population and charges no entry fees. Our lands provide affordable recreation and education to all ages and we continue to eliminate the support systems and staff that keep them running #ProtectOurParks

I don’t know what the immediate future hold for our lands and the caretakers that they require but I encourage everyone to pressure elected officials, donate, volunteer, whatever you can do to ensure these places are here for generations to come.

Over the years I’ve fallen victim to the nonstop pursuit of productivity/achievement and the hustle culture that teaches us that everything in America must be for profit/climbing. These lands give us places to play. Places just to exist and check out from the rat race.

I’m not sure how to put into words how much these places mean to me. I’ve celebrated birthdays, explored with friends, and even sought refuge and seclusion on solo backpacking trips within our protected lands. Their history is rich and a testament to America’s most successful conservation efforts.

Politics paid my bills at the beginning of my career but burnout and cynicism led me to leave the campaign world and seek a slower/more stable career. I don’t voice my opinions much any more but what this admin is doing to our public lands is sickening.

America's quietest rainforest is closed and no one knows when it will reopen The only road leading to the Hoh Rain Forest is being washed out by a river, and federal funding isn't coming through to save it.

One of the stops planned for our July PNW roadtrip. I was hoping that repairs would be made but with the recent cuts by the Trump Administration it sounds like the erosion will only worsen and continue to get more expensive with no funds coming from the federal level #ProtectOurParks
