A proper adventure beneath the Milky Way over Sundial Peak. I began the hike around midnight, trekking the 3-mile trail to Lake Blanche with 2,700 feet of elevation gain and snow covering the final 1.25 miles. Every step was worth the effort. #astrophotography #milkyway #milkywaychasers

The Owl Nebula (M97) is a planetary nebula in the constellation of Ursa Major. Its name comes from the two dark spots in the nebula that look like owl eyes. Also pictured is the Surfboard Galaxy (M108). This was imaged with a wide-field telescope using narrowband filters over a few nights. #astro
