This is why I have real fucking problem with blithe criticisms of "polarization" or "congressional dysfunction." We have a Republican member blaming his colleague for being attacked.

The problem isn't polarization or dysfunction. It's the Republican Party.

Another ploy getting hot again is the “America’s always been this bad, nothing will ever change,” which always has a silent “kneel and surrender” on the end. The good Americans have always been fighting the bad Americans. Yes. That is not a reason to stop or despair.

It is vitally important that Democrats (and the media) frame this properly. If the government gets shutdown it is because the GOP insists on DHS, ICE and CBP continuing to occupy American cities and trample the rights of US citizens.

To be absolutely clear, Alex Pretti’s gun never discharged. All shots were fired by masked state-sponsored terrorists. The observers are peacefully exercising their rights. Trump wants protesters shot in the streets, he just doesn’t want the backlash to slow down his wrecking ball.
