How does a tarantula perceive its world? How does it know where its burrow is when it can't see? Does it create 3d images in its head using ground vibrations? Or is it some kind chemisensory similar to ants?

Invasive weeds are a problem. Could a species specific virus be engineered to eradicate local populations by being transmitted by local pollinators? The idea would be to prevent the virus escaping outside the range of the local pollinator and impacting the weed in its native habitat.

Farming would be so much easier if we genetically modified the weeds that grew well there to also be tasty and nutritious

yet in advanced human society we have magic rocks that allow instant communication and have medicine that can change our very dna. There are even goups of humans who are on verge of creating artificial intelligence that could potentially change some of humanity beyond recognition.

Sometimes i wonder if technology is creating a similar divergence in humanity. There are groups of people alive today who have never seen themselves in a mirror or heard human voices from a speaker.

It is surreal to think there are "living fossils" alive today. Organisms that havent changed much in hundreds of millions of years while their closest relatives have changed beyond recognition.

Science shouldnt require such a sacrifice. The foundation of our society and civilization is built on science, yet we still ask those who choose to do science to give up so much. It is essentially a modern priesthood.
