I found a book I loved as a child featuring paintings by 2 Chinese artists who traveled thru Pakistan in 1981 and Jesus Christ the art is just as beautiful as I remember. I haven't seen this book in 2 decades. I want to cry.

NUN VA GOLDOON was great. A film about the loss of innocence, Makhmalbaf's minimalist direction gets a lot done with little. Most scenes are self contained collages and they build on each other to tell a story thick with grief, and it all culminates in the greatest final shot:

#HappyBirthday Alain Prost, 70. One of #F1’s GOATs, he raced for McLaren, Renault, Ferrari & Williams, won 51 GPs & 4 world championships, & is here seen in the (to my eyes) delectable Renault RE40, on his way to pole position at Monaco in ’83.

Watching 16 titles at the same time is a legit flex. I mean HOW??

#ONEPIECE1038 GODA did it again

Iirc, she had an ongoing battle with cancer for years by then. I can't imagine how she was able to get up for work, let alone giving one of her performances, with all that going on.

Both movies are late career masterworks from the lead actors too.

I can't really pick one, so here's my top favourites: Nolan, Spielberg, Cameron, Ridley Scott, Kubrick, Tarkovsky, Michael Mann, Fritz Lang, Murnau, Kurosawa, Bergman, Scorsese, PTA, Welles and Spike Lee recently joined the list. These are just from top of my head and I've most likely forgot some.

3. Likely ASOIAF, Anime/Manga and Comics stuff.

Probably SEVEN SAMURAI, but some others are right up there with it.

This evening the #AutosportAwards is taking place in London. I’m not there tonight but I’ve been to every one of them since ’96, in which year I sat next to John Surtees. So I’m calling that a good excuse to tweet this mega David Phipps pic of Surtees’ Ferrari en route to Nürburgring victory in ’63.

Both are masterpieces and Kurosawa got like half a dozen other movies in the same quality. The body of work is just insane. Going through it one by one in '22 was one of my favourite cinephile experiences.
