In the Line of Fire: The IEA Is Right Where It Should Be
The IEA is right where it should be, even though it has recently come under fire from American conservatives.
@bengeman.bsky.social reports DOE Secy Wright joins GOP criticism of @iea.org which both defends itself & welcomes dialogue. A good strategy w room to develop. But in the end analytical integrity is paramount. More here: nationalinterest.org/blog/energy-...

IEA is also adapting appropriately and must keep doing so without sacrificing its soul. US withdrawal would be bad for everyone, but still there's a limit. nationalinterest.org/blog/energy-...

New! I analyze how @iea.org might navigate tricky currents in US. The nut: respond constructively to conservative critics w/o compromising its broad mission of energy security, including how to get to net-zero. @jessedjenkins.com @robinsonmeyer.bsky.social nationalinterest.org/blog/energy-...

Pentagon to blacklist Chinaโs largest EV battery and tech firms
The Pentagon is banning a number of Chinese technology firms, including CATL, the worldโs largest EV battery manufacturer, which provides batteries to Tesla.
DOD blacklists CATL. Not clear that CATL is any closer to the PLA than any other big Chinese co. But perhaps that's the point? Good thing the US is staying tight with other countries that have battery manfg capabilities like Japan...โน๏ธ www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

'Energy Dominance' Is Un-American
The Trump administration devoted the week leading up to the Fourth of July to energy policy. Yet, its โEnergy Weekโ jettisoned the very concept that we celebrate on that date.
Seems like as good a time as any to hoist this one from the archives. "dominance comes 'at a cost of constant oppression โฆ and resentment'....It will produce a backlash if it is tried and leave real problems unaddressed." #energysky morningconsult.com/opinions/ene...
