While I have thankfully managed to avoid that issue, but many of my fellow ASL interpreters have. All but one had their careers saved by the surgery. (The one had an unknown allergy to something used during the surgery and there were complications).

There are almost always already people doing good stuff in your community. The best lesson I learned that it is not my job to reinvent the wheel. Just to find the wheel factories and ask them what they need.
