Molly's Holiday Fundraiser 2025 Make Winter Merry and Bright in Honor of Fergus

I hope that on this #GivingTuesday you might consider a donation to my fundraiser for our local shelter. They don't just adopt out animals - they run a low-cost vet and spay/neuter clinic, offer emergency pet housing for domestic violence victims, and so much more. givebutter.com/n5l31M

Oh, my goodness! What a beautiful gift. The wonderful writer & potter Andrew Cowan has made me a GREYHOUND mug! There really is nothing like a handmade object to remind one of the power of humans to make beautiful things. We can do it, folks!

That's so good to hear. The blue & the white are equally wonderful. Yes, me too. (The perfect merging of form and function in my view.)

Thank you so much. I am really glad it is resonating. And, yes, Fitzcarraldo are absolutely wonderful. Those white covers have brought me some of my favourite non-fiction of recent years....

despite presenting an often bleak portrait of modern living, Greyhound carries at its core a message of hope that our relationship with nature, and with each other, will improve.” (2)

Got home to find this beautifully generous review of GREYHOUND in the current @thetls.bsky.social
Thank you to Tom Lathan for engaging so deeply with the book: Tthe author deftly weaves together swathes of American history to lay bare the unsustainable nature — and stupidity — of modern life…. (1)

I was gripped by Grey Hound’s spare yet haunting prose. Pocock cast a shadow of longing and loss so visceral I held my breath. Ultimately a quiet ache lingered long after the final page.

Thank you to NPR @npr for choosing GREYHOUND in its favourite books of 2025. Very grateful to Bridget Bentz for selecting my strange hybrid road trip of a book!

“"An engaging combination of the profound and the profane—much like the country Pocock traverses."

With a beautiful introduction by Amanda Fortini who rightly places this book in what she calls the ‘female picaresque’. Published in the UK by Dead Ink Books and in the US by the New York Review of Books @nyrb-imprints.bsky.social

Finished Jan Kerouac’s BABY DRIVER last night. What a book. When I wasn’t reading it, I was dreaming and thinking about it. One of those voices that inhabits you. I wrote in my diary that her sentences are like ‘sweet serotonin hits’. (1)

I grew up in Canada. My radio memories are full of great songs and bands played at top volume… (maybe rose-tinted memories) and also lying on friends’ floors listening to vinyl for hours… I feel this brilliant stuff was really accessible.

But there would be lots of airplay. You would be able to hear this incredible stuff with your friends (and could go to each others' houses to listen). And the artists would be paid for it. Seems incredible now.
