Me, too! When I do signings, people always apologise for the state of their covers. I always say, 'Don't apologise, it's lovely seeing the marks of where you've been with these words!' There are whole stories there.

That’s so kind of you… (though the proximity of coffee and chocolate to that porous matte cover is making me long for some interface there!) And what a beautiful bowl!

'The Arctic Belongs to Itself', Joyce Wieland, 1973.
I recently saw a fantastic retrospective of her work at the AGO. I always thought that the ceiling in the Cameron House had been painted by her, but no one can corroborate this. Any Toronto people on here remember this?

Biodegradable bamboo breakthrough.

Scientists have developed a tough new bamboo-based plastic that biodegrades in 50 days. The new material matches the strength of engineering plastics used in cars and appliances while retaining 90% of its durability after recycling.

Watching this squirrel pig out on rosehips means I now have Can’s ‘hey you, you’re losing, you’re losing your vitamin C’ running through my head. That’s a hard one to dislodge.

Yes, I, too, can relate to this malaise. All those lives I won't get to live ... sigh. But at least being able to explore them and write about them goes some ways towards quelling the malaise...

French woman trying to make sense of the rise of technology, the presence of war and the desire within her to raise daughters and be fully human and attentive. This one kept me up until the wee hours. (2)

This book! I read Simone de Beauvoir’s THE IMAGE OF HER in one sitting. Absolutely phenomenal. Translated beautifully by @lauren_elkin_
Imagine some of the psychological and linguistic slippages of Virginia Woolf with the acuity of de Beauvoir as she describes the inner workings of a bourgeois (1)
