It has been concerning to see the cosmetic injectables industry try to defend 52-second consults for risky prescription medicine today.

A screenshot of an article in The Age about telehealth cosmetic injectables consults. Maddison Johnstone of Operation Redress rejects Fresh Clinics co-founder John Delaney's claim that there is a misogynistic edge to the Queensland regulator's actions.
"It is not sexist to bring an out of control industry - an industry causing actual harm to mostly female patients - into line with the rest of the medical sector, " she said. "You could argue it is sexist not to."

We continue to fight for better standards in the injectables industry. @mfraserau.bsky.social and I will always advocate for patients over profits.

As far as I'm aware, RFG never apologised to brave whistleblowers like Devi Trimuryani, a small Michel's Patisserie owner who risked everything by speaking up.

We were proud to stand by all RFG franchisees and be a voice for them too. They deserved better and still deserve better.

Never ever forget how this ASX-Listed, multi-national company treated everyday people.

Bled them dry, continued to pursue ex-franchisees in court even while they were being sued by the ACCC and in a class action, and after they were hammered in the media.

Retail Food Group remains the worst company we have investigated in franchising.

To this day, we come across people impacted by them.

We are not surprised by this news, given RFG's awful conduct towards franchisees, mouldy cakes, & the class action.

Another underpayment scandal by a billion dollar company is hitting the news now.

Lovisa is being sued in a class action, which alleges unpaid overtime.

It's not just a few bad apples. Too often, it's retail giants who are listed on the ASX.

10/12 - The independent nurses may be small businesses, but the industry is a high profit industry designed to drive insecurities in all of us. While you might feel you are immune to marketing tactics by this industry, young and vulnerable people are falling victim to it.

9/12 - Unfortunately as we’ve seen with the Cosmetic Cowboys scandals (which we researched and exposed), when profit is a strong driver, patient safety and outcomes suffer. We are seeing this in the injectables space as we are contacted by patients and concerned practitioners.

7/12 - This space is profit driven with marketing and sales at the forefront. Don't take my word for it, read the documentation of nurse training groups and you will get the picture.

8/9. Did you know our body of work has spanned many industries and led to or directly influenced regulatory and legal changes in three industries?

I never did this work for attention or for recognition, but others taking credit and collecting the pay day is a stretch too far.

7/9. Some of the most respectful relationships we have had are with various regulators who are well aware of our work and engage with us in a meaningful way, despite the fact we don't always agree with the regulator's approach.

6/9. My colleague and I have a total of 0 awards for our work and no public acknowledgements from anyone who received them.

Not every relationship has been this way. There are many journalists, politicians and others that we have great rapport with.

03.01.2025 08:57 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

5/9. I am a little over journalists privately messaging us "this is your award too" but failing to mention us in their acceptance speeches, in their public statements or their social media posts. Erasing us and the work we did is frustrating and inaccurate.

4/9. I will never forget someone telling me their assignment was marked down because they referenced me as the person who exposed 7-Eleven and they were told that was incorrect. It demonstrated how impactful to the history of events it is to have others reimagining the events that took place.

03.01.2025 08:57 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

3/9. For 10 years I have watched things like this happen and I have realised that if I don't set the record straight, my body of work will be erased by those happy to take credit for my work.

03.01.2025 08:57 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

2/9. You won't read much about the work we publicly and privately did as for years prominent people and organisations have platformed themselves as the leaders of these changes. From news articles to speeches in parliament, others have rewritten history.

1/9. It's 2025 and as of 1 January, intentional underpayments are a criminal offence in Australia. A big chunk of my colleague's (@maddisonjohnstone.bsky.social) and my work in exposing so many underpayment scandals helped lead to this, starting with the mass systemic underpayments at 7-Eleven.

Woolworths already has all the power. The suggestion that workers are acting in "bad faith" by taking such a stand against corporate greed is incredible.

Look at Woolies' massive underpayment bill. It is at least half a billion dollars.

Who are they to lecture others about good faith?
