Self hate can be motivation when you have executive dysfunction, when you are a bad person and want to change...

however self hate can become a shackle and an addiction that you get so used to using, you don't know how else to grow.

When it stops serving you, reflect and stop doing it.

Pick one redeemable quality you have in abundance and focus on that instead of all the bad things.

Note: This is important if you are naturally self hating, not if you are reflecting on bad behaviour and trying to change it.

I say this from experience of having overthought everything.

I figured that I can't change my past trauma, so why even try? I'll always hate myself because I can't go back in time and be loved by a mother unconditionally.

Turns out I can love myself right now. Just actively choose it.

Still hate yourself? Consider how you think about yourself and others. Are you overly critical? Are you cruel to yourself?

Maybe don't do that. Look at others with kindness, see their redeeming features, see your own in turn.

Simple solutions are often best.
