I am aware I’m talking treason and I take no joy in it. Fascism calls us to consider terrible choices. Please, let it never get to that point 😞 [pictured: picking olives in my home region, 2017]

It makes me nauseous I even have to think about this. I don’t know if I could literally fight; I would be more useful and more comfortable as a translator, mechanic, medic, etc. But it’s clear that if I joined up at all, should the Trumpists wage a war of expansion, it would not be for the US.

With my Quaker roots, I’ve always intended to be a CO if they bring back the draft. One of very few scenarios I’d consider complying: a land invasion of the US. Do I now need to consider if I’d aid the war effort of Canada, Mexico, or Greenland/Denmark/EU against the USA?

Trump says ‘there are methods’ for seeking third term in White House In interview Trump said he wasn’t joking when he alluded to a purported loophole for a third term as president Donald Trump has said there are “methods” – if not “plans” – to circumvent the constitutional limit preventing US presidents from serving three terms. In an interview aired Sunday on NBC, Trump was asked about his trying to stay in office beyond his second presidency, a specter he has repeatedly raised while sometimes claiming he is just joking. Netanyahu's illegal war has killed 50,000 Palestinians. Now, Trump wants to force out 2 million more to build a billionaire's playground in Gaza.

That is ethnic cleansing — and it’s a war crime.

Next week, I will force votes to block $8.8 billion in new arms sales to Israel.

This is a critical point everybody in the media should be amplifying:

This is one of the main reasons that while I’m not one to say both parties are the same, I cannot abide to call myself a Democrat.

It’s giving “I’m not sorry we did it, I’m sorry we got caught”. It’s giving Putin and his “it’s not war, it’s a Special Military Operation”. This deadly hypocrisy and lack of democratic oversight in warfare is not new, and we have both Republicans and Democrats going back decades to thank for it.

Americans used to take it seriously that the White House needed congressional approval for acts of war. Now Congress itself won’t even mention that, no: it’s all about flag-waving “support the troops” rhetoric and protecting US (subtext: global capitalist) interests.

with a dash of “it’s so offensive to Europe”. To me it’s much deeper. It’s the fact these insane fascists (frankly a greater threat to humanity than some scrappy guerrillas playing pirate), who command the world’s most powerful military, want to plan acts of war outside proper, accountable channels.

I just listened to this and while I’m glad they’re getting on #Signalgate, it kind of turns my stomach to see congressional Dems focusing exclusively on the “national security” and “putting American troops in danger” angle, with a dash of… [continued in comments]

Nice seeing friends on here ❤️ I intend to stay camouflaged on Bluesky, so please don’t use my real name, bring up identifying info on my posts, etc. I’ve had hate speech and threats for being queer and antinationalist on FB/IG. Don’t want to let them win, but must be careful! They’re getting bolder.

To don my tinfoil linguist hat, did you know the heads of the Republic of Venice, drawn from its richest merchant families, were called “Doge”? Love the Serenissima; still not something to emulate. It’s etymologically the same as “Duce”, so right at the roots of fascism. Coincidence? [Me in Venice]

This is what they promise to install in the place of representative government and publicly funded services when they say “we’ll run it like a business.” DOGE is the epitome of this, and we must vehemently reject it. (3/3)

The hierarchical pyramid structure is the quality of most businesses they really mean to emulate. They want an all-powerful CEO/dictator, all the labor of the workers but no real power for them, and to formalize a structure that siphons off most of the value for “shareholders”, i.e. oligarchs. My Roman Empire: how so many US voters of both major parties respond positively to the old “I’ll run it like a business” pitch. Masked under this apparent bid for efficiency and fiscal solvency lies a chilling promise of authoritarianism. (1/3)
