Paleontologists used to think that dino skin impressions required rapid burial, soon after death, to be preserved.
But now we know thereβs not a single pathway to exceptional preservation, and desiccation often plays a role. Look at this chunk of hadrosaur tail, so dried the skin shrunk to bone. π§ͺ
