a few weeks ago while walking along the Ottawa River I spotted this small flying watercraft. never seen anything like it before. maybe a custom build? anyone know what this sort of vessel is called, if it’s commercially available or likely a one-off?

i think what you might want is the Arnssien Kids Camera, which is all of the above (digital/analogue, cheap, novelty toy for kids)

the visual motif on the dustjacket of stag beetle, baseball, enormous nail, & mountainside in superposition only seems appropriate when you have reached the end of the book. i couldn’t fully appreciate it until i had; a nice touch

finishing tonite fielding dawson’s β€˜the black mountain book’ (croton press, 1970), a memoir of his time there from 1949–53. quite a wonderful book which evokes for me bittersweet memories of brief times of communal living, whether band camp, a visit to warren wilson, vermont, camp at glen helen, etc

i can’t shake the feeling it’s a vice, one that inflicts damage on me. yet i don’t know if i could, or should, ever quit. maybe it’s one of those double-edged swords

i know it’s very low down on the list of things to hate, but i’m not going to try to rank or be exhaustive, that way lies folly. escooters & ebikes, fucking stupid. i know we won’t all agree. just putting that out there

did the buddha hate? his latter-day disciples will probably tell you he didn’t but i’m going to bet that he hated a lot of dumb shit

what i learned tho is that criticizing things on social media does not really achieve any of my goals. i’m not sure hating them achieves any of my goals either (unless: β€œdude, i’m expressing my subjectivity”). yet, here i am: a hater

01.08.2025 21:17 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

even tho i’ve learned to kept my mouth shut i have not stopped being a hater. there are just so many things to hate, it probably can’t be helped
