Alberta wasted more than $100M in lab privatization effort: Auditor general report dynalifey

During the same week that the UCP is expanding privatization, the auditor general finds that government interference cost taxpayers over $100 million.

How can anyone deny it’s the government that’s the problem?

The enduring impact of a 3 year old misinformation campaign is foreshadowing the future effects of increasingly more sophisticated misinformation developments.

When asking, people are giving me reasons for not getting the COVID vaccine (had enough of them, it's endemic now, still got infected) which would justify not getting the flu shot, which yet, they are getting.

Is this for under 18 only? Or late teens early 20s as well?

I wonder what made life expectancy jump up significantly across all ages at around 2003 / 2005?

Unfortunately a significant amount of people use FB messenger as their primary tool for communication with no intention to change.

I have tried to push my contacts to use Signal. Usage in general has increased but it is still a fraction of the diff Meta ones.

In December of 2022, the Govt of Canada offered 96,000 bottles of Australian Tylenol (the real brand) to Alberta.

It wasn’t AHS that refused.

It was the govt, saying that wouldn’t be enough.

How many bottles were actually used in hospitals?

9,000.

We're talking phone numbers here?
We could just get a new country code and keep out numbers (we better do I cannot learn a new number!). The only issue might be numbers that have been ported across countries.

Love/hate for bash reignited! I don't know if this is a POSIX spec or a bash bug, but that's unexpected and needs to be understood. This will print "no"!

```
rm ~/toto
ln -s ~/toto tata
[ -e tata ] && echo yes || echo no
The @calgary.ca transit app has become unusable on Android, it goes all the way to the edge of the screen, the top buttons (eg: back, hamburger) are covered by the Android notification bar, bottom buttons (eg: skip) are covered by Android buttons. We can see them but cannot press on them.
Facebook getting rid of public followers. This is sad, I like the idea of public vs friends access without the headache of a professional profile.
TIL you can change the wiper insert (the piece of rubber), rather than the whole windshield wiper, for a quarter of the price.
This article, thetyee.ca/Opinion/2025..., says that "This year the province has ordered only 485,000 doses" (750_000 were administered last year). Why do we need to fill a pre-order form if the government has already ordered vaccines?
@drluannemetz.bsky.social, will we be able to get vaccinated even if we don't register? Does registration guarantees to be able to get vaccinated?
Is the government really waiting Sept 30th to order vaccines?
Thank you, from your constituency.
Given the lack of communication about this from the government of Alberta, @drluannemetz.bsky.social ‬ could the NDP find out what the "Pre-Order Vaccines for the 2025-2026 Immunization Season" is about, if it is required to get vaccination, etc...?
Given that the people participating in the study were all in the U.S., could a big part of the issue be the fertilizers used to feed cows and the hormones given them, a lot of them banned in many countries due to their impact on human health?
How did Alberta decide what books were 'inappropriate' in its new school policy? By referencing lists of books banned in the U.S. and searching for the same titles in the province's public school libraries. Full story here:
