Alberta premier’s request for separation referendum question approval rebuffed Alberta’s chief electoral officer is rebuffing calls from Premier Danielle Smith and her justice minister to reverse course and sign off on a proposed referendum question on separation.

We shouldn't be doing this at all. A referendum on an issue that has no chance of passing is at best a performative waste of money.

A referendum on the future of Canada is worse. In addition to having no chance of passing, it also damages our economy, damages our reputation, & needlessly divides.

How to shrink a government department A ten-step guide

Before I was an MP, I was a public servant.

The Public Service has a huge job in the coming years. It'll be asked to deliver more & spend less.

With vision & strategy - it's doable. Here's 10 steps I recommend after having had to do the same in Alberta. www.coreyhogan.ca/p/how-to-shr...

"Opportunities are created, not given"
YouTube video by Corey Hogan "Opportunities are created, not given"

In Calgary, the Liberal Party received its highest percent of the vote since, well, ever.

On Monday I chatted with Liberals in Alberta (via Zoom) about how that's largely gone unnoticed, how that happened, and what it means for the Liberal Party going forward.

Yesterday was the long-awaited ground breaking for Calgary’s Green Line. This multi-billion dollar infrastructure investment adds transit options, reduces traffic, creates thousands of jobs.

City’s on board, province’s on board, we’re on board. Let’s go. It’s happening.

It’s time to build.

Government should act more seriously than this. Albertans opinions should be treated more seriously than this.

If you want to have a real conversation, let’s have a real conversation - based on facts, multiple viewpoints and non-coercive question design.

I’ve gotten used to seeing AB push polls but Alberta Next β€œconsultation” is outrageous.

Just did the immigration one.

From the very first sentence being a lie (no, we don’t have an open border policy) to options all having nudges, a dumpster fire in survey design top to bottom.

Instead of the same question being asked and answered eight times in a row in 30-second soundbite form, what if once a week we have long-form QP?

Questions and responses could both be 4 minutes. Maybe we’d get something of more nutritional value.

Another week in Ottawa, another week building Canada strong.

Speeches are being made, offices are opening, caucuses and committees are struck. We're getting down to business - it's going to be a busy summer.

Reach out at corey.hogan@parl.gc.ca with your thoughts/ideas. It's a big time for Canada.
