the common thread that binds the death of community is the rise of the algorithm. don't fucking show me things based on how many people like them and how similar you think i am to them. make me fucking talk to the people who like them and have them tell me they're good. build a god damn community.

for what it's worth, there's like two or three kinds of places left on the internet to find genuine community. places like bluesky, discord servers, and fuckin... forums i guess, even though forums are mostly dead. reddit doesn't have community. it's a collection of themed pits to scream into

i don't use places like this to Build My Personal Brand, i use them to goof off with people who share my sense of humor and interests. it's going to be really fucking sad if i have to abandon that to not go absolutely fucking insane having horrors blasted into my eyes

Had a dream a while back in which I discovered the existence of the "Grave of the Fireflies/Super Mario World 2-in-1" for the Wii. It basically functioned as a DVD except for a "special features" section that literally only had an SNES emulator playing Mario World. It went for absurd prices on eBay
