โAre you okay, maโam?โ
โI think I swallowed my router.โ
โHere, take my seat.โ
Such a nice part of town.

03.04.2025 11:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Being able to read and understand it, but most importantly, being _currious_ about it, is what will matter. It might not be obvious at first, but it will come back around.
17.03.2025 10:32 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I dont know if this helps, but even with AI, skills like yours will always be in demand. Though, it might not be exactly how you would imagine it today. AI (vibe coding *shudder*), etc will allow more people to create software, but they wont have the skills to support, test, or maintain it.

- work in smaller batches
- run the tests after each change
- integrate continuously
- 80 % refactoring 20% new features
- new code is a response to a failing tests
I always wondered why this HN comment was popular.

AI is taking the AI's JOB! It needs that job to afford to live in the cloud!

24.01.2025 11:11 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This was a neat talk. www.adaptivecapacitylabs.com/2025/01/07/r... Something I enjoy doing is overthinking. I like it where you practice thinking about core assumptions, where I might be wrong, about systems and cause and effect, how surprising results can arise from seemingly unrelated conditions.

23.01.2025 11:01 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That being said, as AI powered deepfakes get better and see more widespread use, I think we are in for a bumpy ride. Absolutely any conspiracy theory will have compelling video evidence attached that most people will not hesitate sharing, especially if it supports some fear they already suspect.
23.01.2025 10:58 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Who remembers the "tracert hacker"๐ ? Feels like 'Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic' is at the core of a lot of conspiracy theories. Granted the world of open source licenses is a pretty esoteric topic, but it seems most people have misplaced their Occam's razor.
23.01.2025 10:54 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The tricky part is getting people to articulate problems from the *user's perspective* in the story and simply what to implement. In a recent "story mapping" exercise at work, when I asked what problem the user was trying to solve, the only response available was "to use our thing".
14.01.2025 10:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I basically lose consciousness every time I see a viral post that goes, โAll you people who are barely treading water right now? Here are the twenty-six additional things you need to do to prepare for the bleak future.โ

Apple TV is free this weekend, so Severance is a good choice too...
I forget where I read this, but recently someone articulated the dread of how our modern world is designed to constantly try and coerce us into accepting things that are not in our interest. Vigilance is exhausting and the attacks are coming from every possible direction. #enshitification.

04.01.2025 12:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Motorola's customers are the app developers on those lists. They have paid for that placement. Paid even more to be the "recommended" apps. The fact the _user_ needs to wade through all that sorta intended because most users won't. Apps end up installed which is what the customer (app dev) paid for.
