Hey Seattle Kraken crowd, there are only supposed to be five players on the ice per team at one time. It's like, the rules. Again, brush up on your hockey knowledge. What are you booing for?

First time watching hockey, or what?
The centre doesnβt hold.
It folds.
Primary Schumer.
Primary the caving cowards.
History doesnβt remember those who kept their heads down.

How many times do they need to be compensated for not lifting a finger?
Whereβs that βfreedom and libertyβ they keep preaching to the poor? 6/
This is how democracy erodes β not in one blow, but in a thousand polite concessions.
While billionaires collect more β tax cuts, subsidies, loopholes β rewards for simply existing. 5/
Centrists donβt lead revolutions.
They manage decline.
They donβt win victories for working people β they explain why those victories are βunrealistic.β
And every time they βreach across the aisle,β the aisle moves farther right. 4/
As Tariq Ali wrote in The Extreme Centre:
βThe political class has become a single entity defending capitalism while pretending to offer choice.β
Itβs theatre, not leadership β a costume change between red and blue. 3/
They lose ground to the right, then celebrate it as maturity.
They hand over public wealth to corporations and call it βpartnership.β
They accept cruelty as the cost of stability, then brand it βbipartisanship.β 2/
The centre doesnβt hold.
Centrists love to lose gracefully.
They call it βgoverning responsibly.β
They say βwe all have to compromise.β
But what they really mean is: we gave up first. 1/

I canβt imagine growing up in the public eye the way she did, under endless misogyny and scrutiny. Much respect to a truly notable artist of our time.

For all the people who parrot those shallow Fox News rants about βthe elite,β hereβs the reminder: humans are still humans.

What a glorious surprise. And the songβs about making peace with her father.

It hits me right in my Buckingham happy place β that propulsive Mick groove, that signature guitar tone β and Mileyβs vocal absolutely holds its own.

Even as a mid-era convert, this record really surprised me. Getting Mick Fleetwood and Lindsey Buckingham to back her on a song that could sit comfortably on Rumours⦠just, wow.

Honestly, I think itβs just a button that gets pushed every time certain people see anyone but a young white man take control of their career and succeed.

Wow. Itβs been fascinating to watch Miley Cyrus come into her own over the years. Sheβs always followed her own muse β endlessly more creative than her chauvinist, ageist critics ever give her credit for.
I still get chills when he goes up at the end for βYes, all I really want to say is that my love is trueβ¦β
Those lovely keyboard rhythms, with that minimalist harmonic pulse, bring this to a level where it could have appeared on The Blue Nileβs Hats.
Absolute bliss.

Once it hits that bridge, I tend to listen from there to the end over and over again. This is how we wore our cassettes in our Walkmans out in the eighties.

Stephen Bishop has written so many lovely songs, but this may be my favourite (though It Might Be You would also qualify).
So many people tuned in to the premiere of Vince Gilliganβs Pluribus that Apple TV actually crashed last night.
Mine froze near the end, and for a second I thought it was intentional. It fit the moment perfectly.
Itβs so damned good. Vince is a genius.
