Played through Neva: Prologue. A wonderful new chapter in a beautiful game. These devs introduce new level design mechanics at a great pace and move on before they get stale. The visuals and music remain breathtaking. And there were some surprisingly tough fights! I loved revisiting this game 🎮🥰

I might need to give this a go. I wasn’t really into the original release but everyone says this is a big upgrade.

Finished up the platinum on God of War: Sons of Sparta today. I just installed Neva: Prologue and Reanimal so those are up next. I am off work because of the snow for tomorrow at least, so looking forward to digging into both 🎮😃

It is sort of buggy and gets off to a slow start, but by the end of Sons of Sparta I was really hooked. And now I am still hooked going for 100%. It has a lot of cool optional content that reminds me of the Norse games. Movement is pretty fun by the end and you have some cool combat options too 🎮😃

I’ve gotten much better at the combat in Sons of Sparta. I’ve got this pretty cool stun-based build going that is kicking ass right now. I also just unlocked the ability to fast-travel to campsites, so it is a good time to run around and clean up some collectibles/upgrades I’ve missed 🎮😃

Loved this game. One of my favorite Zelda-likes 😃

And yet, I like that this game exists. And I’d actually like to see Sony try more small games like it in the future. Experiment more with their series between the big AAA releases. Work more with smaller developers like this again perhaps.

I think I’ve played about 8 hours of Sons of Sparta now. I’m enjoying it and it has gotten better as it has gone on and yet there are so many superlative entries in the Metroidvania subgenre now, this does feel like kind of an inessential entry for fans of said genre.

Been rewatching Suburgatory since it was added to Netflix. Under appreciated comedy series. Has some great holiday episodes that I’m looking forward to revisiting.

Shame this last game was a stinker. Definitely think this format was an improvement. Glad I tuned in. I was about ready to quit watching the ASG after the last few years. Excited for the rest of this NBA season 🏀😃

I actually think maybe the short game length in the ASG means the players are playing harder? Or screwing around less at least?

Just watched Predator: Badlands. Loved it! Prey, the animated film and now this? Trachtenberg is killing it with this franchise.

Loving this new Charli XCX album. “Dying for You” is my jam right now. “Always Everywhere” and “Funny Mouth” are my other early favorites 🎶😃

The one-on-one tournament that Unrivaled does is so cool. Always wanted to see something like that at NBA All-Star Weekend. Give me that and the 3-Point Contest and you can just scrap the rest.

I just don’t feel I have a handle on this Sons of Sparta combat. I’m not really dying much, but I just don’t feel like I’m doing it well 😂 Still enjoying the game. I always think it is neat to see game series transferred into a different genre or perspective 🎮😃

I’ve never played the original Rayman. Going to add that to my list of games to play too. Forgot about that announcement.

I think I’ll still enjoy a little more time with the game even if it is small!

It definitely seems like a Metroidvania. I get where you are coming from. I was kind of delighted that Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound was a stage-based action game last year. Seems like a lost art. Feels like every 2D game is a Metroidvania or a roguelike now lol.

-Control: Resonant and 007: First Light continue to look super fun to me.

-The Chicken man game was so ridiculous. I couldn’t take it seriously 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

-New Castlevania looks super cool. My brother is going to be so excited about this when he sees it.

-I love John Wick. Hope the game will be good. I always imagined some combo of shooting, cool context-sensitive takedowns and Splinter Cell’s Mark and Execute for a Wick game.

More SoP thoughts:

-Kena 2 surprised me right off the bat. I thought the first was a good effort for a studio new to games. I’m glad they are getting a chance to build on it.

-The Neva: Prologue announcement really caught me off guard too. I loved that game and that is an instant buy for me.

Played about an hour of 2D God of War. I didn’t like the artstyle when I first saw the trailer but I like it better playing it. Kind of a weird game, but I’m enjoying it. And as I said about it before the reveal, I like the idea of Sony making little games for their big series. Excited to play more!

Yeah it feels like a big undertaking to do the whole trilogy. I wish there was a little more info on direction, but we’ll see eventually I guess!

Yeah feels like a big variance on directions they could go. I’m very curious. I’d prefer it retain similar gameplay to the originals. I like that each era has a distinct feel and hope the next era has its own unique take. Though I think the devs should make what they want to, I’ll deal with it lol.
