One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced โ€”and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckettโ€™s most famous work without knowing anything about it

In HP Lovecraft's story "The Shadow Over Innsmouth", written in 1931, the narrator describes taking with him a supply of cheese crackers for his lunch.

A certain brand of cheese crackers was invented in 1921.

This means he quite possibly went to Innsmouth to fight the eldritch horrors of Cthulhu armed with Cheez-Its.

I really think at its heart philosophy is one giant battle, taking place over many eras and nations, between people who are basically pleasant bureaucrats and people who are sexy murder poets, and itโ€™s both super important and super boring that the pleasant bureaucrats must win.

Did you realize there are people who will tall you that crawling into a hole, curling up in a ball, and waiting for the world to go away is not the best solution to all your problems?

Watch out for those people -- they're probably trying to steal your hole.

While Adachi is most well known (and lauded) for his longer series where he gets to build characterization and drama over time, he's also done quite a few single chapter shorts. There are four collections under the title Short Program, though we only ever got 2 in the US.

And now Short Game!

the truth is worse: these decisions can and do get made without any single person involved having an ounce of hostility to users. all large companies are unaccountability machines that accidentally but constantly create perverse internal incentives because they need to make everything quantifiable

I love it when a website is trying to be helpful with charts and graphs and such, but it defaults to a daily bar chart even if there's only one day of data, so it's just a single giant block of colour filling the entire canvas. Like, yes, thank you, that's very informative!

This generic acetaminophen had an Amtrak ACS-64, four Amfleet 1 cars, a Conrail EMD GP15-1, and some Conrail rolling stock in it. The problem is more serious than I thought.
