There is plenty of evidence supporting your contention that 4chan and other homophobic groups are behind hoax campaigns such as LGBTP, AboveTheHate and HeartProgress.

Less well-supported are the origins of "Minor Attracted People" as opposed to Pedophiles or Hebephiles.

This was rooted in online support forums and a Mental Health Organization (B4U-ACT) for people attracted to children and teens. The years being around 1998-2003, when the group was founded.

Numerous academic papers and books make use of "Minor Attracted" or similar language in the years following.
