What the Epstein files tell us about extreme wealth

The Epstein files aren’t just about one wealthy predator.

They reveal how extreme wealth creates a system where the ultra-rich protect each other, avoid consequences, and exploit power, while everyone else pays the price. patrioticmillionaires.org/perspectives...

Employee-ownership advocates say letting Canada's tax exemption for Employee Ownership Trusts expire in 2026 would undercut the model before it’s even given a chance to shine.

Let's #ExtendTheIncentive and give #EOTs the proper runway to take off in Canada!

How a youth employment supplement could help young Canadians A youth employment supplement to the Canada Workers Benefit could help young Canadians facing housing costs, debt and weak job prospects.

Last year at @maxbellschool.bsky.social, my team and I proposed a Youth Employment Supplement. Today it’s in Policy Options thanks to @scpartners.bsky.social. Half of young renters spend 50% of income on rent. Our proposal would reach 2M young Canadians.

We all want more investment in Canada's economy. But when it comes to foreign investment (FDI), @jonshell.bsky.social says we have to ask: is it investment that builds? Or investment that buys?

Because these are two very different things.

It has never been more clear that unaccountable systems of wealth are the PRIMARY destructive element of our politics, economy, and society as a whole. Unchecked abuse of all kinds. The current US admin is just the latest, purest personification of this trend.

Spoiler alert: #11 is "incentivize employee ownership."

STATEMENT ON X (FORMERLY TWITTER)
I've been on X (formerly Twitter) since 2008, when I started my work as a business journalist in New York City at the beginning of the Great Recession. It was an invaluable tool in those days; and when I moved to The Globe and Mail, we used it to engage with readers through the paper's editorial board Twitter account, which I set up and ran.
Twitter - in all of its chaos with all of its problems - was for many years a vibrant space of debate and discovery, and an invaluable source of information about the world, often in real time.
But it's no longer that place. It's now a place where anger, hyper-divisive content, shock - and most, recently Al-generated sexualized deepfakes - is the content that gets elevated or rewarded by its algorithm.
Al is now part of our reality and will continue to be. There's no denying that. But we are not passive in this journey.
Our values matter; and when the technology and the platform are at such 100% complete misalignment with those values, it's time to go.
In the absence of meaningful change, I am pausing my posting here. You can still find me and my office's work through the channels listed below.
