it vaties in meaning, but to field an example, the difficulty slider in Bethesda RPGs usually just increases the health of enemies while reducing the damage you deal and upping the damage you take. Mostly it just makes combat take longer, and player strategy barely changes or leans more on exploits

the kick is very nice for combat; it lets you risk aggression when dodging an enemy attack if you are confident that the "bounce" will carry you to safety after the hit. unfortunately a couple of the pogo jump parkour sections are needlessly fiddley for how early they show up

in order to get max rewards from the machine, you have to time the last hit correctly. anticipating this, mira ran in and parried (a thing you can do) the blue guy's last punch, and smashed the machine while he was stunned before scampering, yes.

I like wplace conceptually and I got a big piece done up in my town but I wish the site was run by less stupid chuds. the engine is a really good improvement over wai wai party, and the widescreen format is used well. chart bgs are crisp. the timing feels a lot better. apparently wwp fudged hit sounds to match the "correct" note timing, instead of what you actually hit, and that's gone in fp so the hitsounds actually match what you play. Square notes are nice (bumpers/triggers), no ad-libs is sad but not like, the end of the world basically all the stuff that isnt the experience of "actually playing a chart" is pretty beans though. the story of story mode is total whatever, and its use as "mission mode" is kneecapped by the fact that every mission is basically "full chain this song with x margin of error". sometimes it forces you to play on a higher difficulty and thats the only, yknow, difficulty. and there's so many goddamn mission nodes that it gets horribly repetitive, which leads into what is... the biggest and most obvious problem: there are 50 charts in the game on launch. 36 are available off rip for free play, and the other 14 are originals, unlocked in story mode, and are all "themed" for the story, and they range from "yeah id play this in free play" to "ooohhhh my goodddd this suuucks". The base 36 are 2/3rd repeat tracks from wwp. The new tracks are some excellent picks (lagtrain, hitomania), and "vtuber" music is now its own category that i can filter out and never look at. finally, the english localization is straight ass. the game had to have a day-1 patch to fix the fact that they spelled the title of the game as "groove coaster future performaers" on the switch library, a setting in the options is spelled "midium", and so on and so forth. just a lot of horrifically sloppy shit that you think could be caught by just running the damn script thru fucking spellcheck all in all, very good engine marred by a useless story / mission mode and an absolutely anemic library. not worth your money imo but im playing on emu so whatever.

groove coaster future performers review. its long as balls so i screenshot it but its all in the alt text. tldr; 6/10, dont pay money for it, but it will be much better when you can pirate the game and like 30+ dlc packs to fill out the library. ignore story mode.
