historical ramblings aside, i have to once again praise a lot of the technical stuff they did in 9th gen. Quick Resume lets you start right up even if you havent booted the console in a year and its been unplugged that whole time. super good feeling UX. good form factor, never once crashed

they were right in saying 8th gen was the worst to lose. they even had digital libraries set up and functional during 7th gen, while Sony made zero effort to ever improve the PSN store and the PS3 library experience. probably why they felt confident in the Always Online nonsense in 2013

after playing that Marathon test i think its possible they make a game that services SOMEBODY, i have a friend who went crack fiend on it, but i dont think that audience is big enough to carry a AAA cost lol. and Destiny is dying to support that one.

Renegades (next D2 expac) launches: nobody cares. Team goes radio silent.
Nothing happens at Bungie that isn't Marathon for a while.
Marathon launches. It shows signs of life at release but quickly loses a sizeable playerbase.
Destiny is silently de-listed, put into maintenance.
