Anyway just flicking through the Sunday newspapers reading about some minor content infractions that Ofcom might look into at the BBC/Channel 4.

01.08.2025 15:52 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0they might choose not to play with men, that doesn’t mean they can’t - that’s like saying cis women might not want to play with trans women and therefore “can’t play at all”

01.08.2025 13:24 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0i hesitate to say anything here because <points at everything> … but whatever else it is that’s not logically inconsistent: as you say, darts is effectively an “open” (men & women) sport so trans women are not being excluded from the sport but from the (by definition, restricted) women’s category
01.08.2025 12:09 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0“At the heart” of the SNP’s new campaign for independence will be an argument that is straightforwardly false.
Scottish renewables are absolutely not “low-cost”. On average, they are high-cost, and depend on being able to defray those high costs across all GB bill payers.
The important point is that CfDs currently being awarded will lock in (for 20 years) wholesale costs above the current gas-set market price. That doesn’t mean they are a bad thing - energy security and reduced emissions are worthwhile goals - but renewables are not cheap.
01.08.2025 09:50 — 👍 2 🔁 1 💬 1 📌 0that’s a complicated topic, very well summarised here www.these-islands.co.uk/publications...
01.08.2025 10:08 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0and now i’ll stop: but thanks for pivoting to a civilised discussion 👍
01.08.2025 10:07 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0ps this reinforces my point - again: i’m pro renewables and subsidising them today, it’s merely the nationalist rhetoric that claims Scotland is somehow getting ripped off by the GB energy market that irks me!
01.08.2025 09:58 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0(2/2) what i objected to in that SNP post was the implication that because we have lots of renewables in Scotland it’s unfair that our bills are so high today - as somebody in favour of renewables, i see the GB energy market and renewables subsidies defrayed across all GB bill payers as a good thing
01.08.2025 09:43 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0thanks for rethinking that previous post
