In this paper by Ruoyun Xiong et al., in Nature Medicine, instead of hunting for single causes, using AI could help us think about these complex conditions as network diseases—where the problem may not be one broken component but disrupted communication between systems.

No I don’t think thats in the paper - easy to guess the comparison though.

Apparently cycling 2-3 hours a day for 2 weeks after a pretty much sedentary lifestyle doesn't count as "gradual" - who knew? 🤷‍♀️
I'm now considering more cold water swimming to help redress the balance... because clearly my problem-solving skills are flawless! 🥶

I'm currently on Naproxen for various angry tendons after my active fortnight and sprinting through Gatwick North after the @RoySocMed LC conference for the last Inverness flight.

💭 Note to self: build up activity gradually...

Turns out there's a difference between suggesting increasing gentle activity and actually doing them after months of desk-bound life!

These findings demonstrate Long COVID's substantial economic burden and highlight the need for coordinated care strategies with focus on vocational support.

🌍 Care Access: • Significant regional variation in specialist service provision after controlling for health need • Service volumes declined over time across most regions.

📈 Patient Outcomes: • Small but statistically significant improvement in health utility scores over time • Significant reduction in public sector healthcare costs • Strong evidence that service use responds to patient health needs.
