Still a few months off, but here it comes:
"Florida farmers now plowing over perfectly good tomatoes as Trumpโ€™s tariff policies cause prices to plummet"
Dumping, collapse and waste (you are here), end of supply, demand and price skyrockets.

It's only about 33 feet to a mile, so have at it!

I'm wanting to do that with a T-TRAK module. With a giant spider attacking a town. I've got the scene from the movie, but can't find it right now. ๐Ÿคฆ

Pulled the motor out of an old, broken, tender-less Bachmann 0-6-0, I picked up in a "lot", and it lives again!๐Ÿฅณ
It needs a good (re-)breaking in, though.

Need to set a precedent first, against something that doesn't have infinitely deep pockets. Either AI dies, or IP Law becomes meaningless.
I really want both sides to lose, though.

Yup, yup!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
In my (planned) universe C&EI, L&N, and others will "still exist", under the CSX umbrella, maintaining passenger routes (along side Amtrak), and running local freight.

Polishing the commutator and one of the contacts popped off. Motor no longer checks out.๐Ÿ˜–
Enough of that. It's time for some Civilization 6, with Wilfrid Laurier, and Sabaton's "Carolus Rex".

An old split-frame Bachmann MDT, taken apart. It is caked with grease. Numerous small hairs (or carpet strands?) are trapped within the grease. Blue lines point to some of the longer hairs.
As if there wasn't enough grease, it has also been over-lubricated with a very thin oil, which has finally made it's way to the brushes in the motor. There is a small indentation in one side of the frame where the motor sits, noted with a blue circle. Upon removal of the motor, oil pooled in the indentation. A thin oily film covers everything.

Not the training I wanted to do today. This little MDT ran fine, straight out of the box, from eBay. One good lap today, than sluggish, stopped, and smoked.๐Ÿ˜ญ
Motor checks out good, but look this slop! So much grease and hair! (Not mine, my track is *much* cleaner than this!) Circle is a pool of oil!

A vintage diagram describing a way to power model train tracks on a moving lift bridge by using pools of mercury that wires dip into to make the electrical connection. It's described as "A simple, excellent system."

This explains a lot about some of the model railroaders I know.

Sign at a car lot, topped by a red Corvette. Below the car, the name "Bennett" is spelled-out, vertically. Beneath that, a light sign is in the process of changing advertisements.

Well, I was unable to locate that smol rally car, but I did stumble across this! I remember telling someone of this regional landmark.
"Bennett Motors: Where the Corvette sits high in the sky."

That and Lane Motor Museum were regular irregular stops, when I used to go down that way for a Renaissance Fair. Haven't been in a while (10-12 years?), since the ... uh ... climate changed

I've been thinking about my tongue-in-cheek comment, since posting that, and I've never *really* been interested in getting 3-D printer.
Until now.
(And I *clearly* misremembered the opening sequence!)

I've seen a few "more [trains]*; less doom" posts today, so I've been trying to repost a few. I'm exhausted from work, and it's train club night, so not really feeling running anything in the short time I have. Maybe something tomorrow....๐Ÿฅฑ๐Ÿš‚

Closeup of the tail, showing off the access hatches opened for lubricating the truck journal boxes. The corrugated metal exterior reminiscent of a Ford Tri-motor or Ju-52 25 years later was even done before the Wright bros flew in their powered kite.

The fully-faired tender is so far ahead of its time, the only clue being the ancient leaf-spring archbar giving away this isn't from 1935.

The major mistake they made seemed to be just using regular locomotives on the point and not streamlining the engine, so it was still a brick through the air otherwise.

Good read of the day: Industrial designer of real streamlined locomotives Otto Kuhler writes about the 1899-1909 tests of wacky inventor Adam's very first streamlined train on the B&O:

[Dramatic music from the 1970's "Six Million Dollar Man"] We have the technology. We can rebuild a slot car into a 3-D printed bus. Make stronger. Faster.
Just need to find an HO bus to cut up, and some careful use of PVA..... I think?

An actual map of the sad aerial photo I posted a few days back, showing the "new" C&EI yards, north of Evansville. Pigeon Creek, in blue, is in the lower left corner, surrounded by the green area of trees and native plants. The red lines running top-to-bottom, on the right side, represent US 41. Rail lines, just to the left of the highway, also run parallel to it, expanding in to a large yard at the top. The area in the photo is shown in the lower half of the left side. A turntable, roundhouse, another small yard.

VERY time consuming! That's why I thought you might find it useful - if a bit sloppy. By the time you get to Indiana, I might have something presentable put together.
Yes. They must have added a few maps. This is the first time I've been able to locate Wansford!! Thank you so much for the reminder!
