I'll be off line a fair bit this week. I'm involved with an online event tomorrow with the Intellectual Property Office where we'll be talking copyright, patents for music artists. Thursday I'm running a workshop on Concepts in Music Production. Music industry peeps in Wales are welcome to join in.

It is. I'm 30 minutes from the city of Cardiff in one direction. 30 minutes in the other and I'm in the Brecon Beacons, in the middle of nowhere.

Well, I live in Wales but the Musicians Union region I belong to is Wales and the South West of England (effectively spanning 2 countries!) . My Union Learning Rep work is within Wales only. It's because of the way Welsh and English governments deliver their funding criteria. It's a bit weird!!!

No doubt analog recordings impart a certain flavour with tubes, transformers and tapes and manufacturers of modern plugins talk about 3rd and 5th order harmonics ( not an expert) but there's much more going on than that. I can't fathom.

I remember when people started raving about digital recordings. They quickly found out that pristine isn't everything and have been trying to recapture that within the digital domain ever since.

Aw, I long for those days to return. I miss it!

Yeah. I'm a Union Learning Rep within Wales and I'm on the Regional Committee for Wales and the South West of England.

I'm still the old school 4 track tape mentality! 👍

I've run workshops on the value of limitations within composing and production. It kind of forces a certain mindset. It's interesting to see how attendees react to that in this day and age when there's such an abundance of choice and methods of creating things.

I've always been in the 'if it sounds / feels right' camp but, yes follow the rules until you're able to break them without losing the way. Easier said than done in my experience though!
