Yeah, Verlander is cooked. I kinda saw the logic when they signed him (pitcher's park, good guy for younger starters to talk to, the team can easily afford it), even though he was pretty bad and injured last season, but his secondary pitches aren't any good.

Saw this coming when he roasted Paramount. His show dominates the ratings, so CBS Execs' reasoning: “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night ... It is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount" seems dubious.

Camilo Doval looks fine, sometimes really good, then he tries to throw inside on a right-handed hitter and he looks like Nuke LaLoosh.

Knowing how many people inside the game and in the media scoffed at Posey's ability to handle this job, and then seeing the human/communication portion of the job become so obviously important in real time, is pretty wild.

It's so funny that Rafael Devers, after getting jerked around by Craig Breslow and saying he wouldn't play first base, came to SF and said he'll play first base if needed. Breslow probably yanked the zipper on his quarter-zip up to his chin when he heard that.

This Devers trade seems a lot like the Jimmy Butler trade. Acquire a proven dude who’s pissed off at his team, for a not amazing group of assets that looks ok on paper, because the other team just wants to get rid of the star player.
