Today I was wondering why I would use a parser combinator library instead of a regex, so I researched a bit. Now I feel stupid for wondering lol.

I really dig the new art style of Bertas Adventure now. You can see me play the tutorial here. It looks a bit stuttery, but I can promise you, it's smooth as hell.

I'm currently thinking about changing the art direction of my game to something else. Very minimalistic 8x8 sprites instead of the current 48x48 It takes me a lot of time to create those big sprites and I really like the gameplay right now but I think I can't finish it with the current art style. :(

People who say nobody knows how they work and people who think we understand them completely are both incorrect.

It helps to know how they work. And it's easy to find out how they work because they are actually not really complicated. Just resource hungry af.

We know how they work, we don't know why they work so well. It would be impossible to build and train a LLM without knowing what they do.

It's just hard for academics to say they understand stuff completely because they know that they don't know everything about it.

If a billion (trillion?) company does something in an official release presentation, everything is planned. Nothing is a 'small mistake' especially if graphs and data are involved. OpenAI? More like OpenHypeDrivenClownfiesta kekw

Pretty good write-up with sane opinions. Especially the CLI vs. integrated AI part is good. Being active as a developer instead of a passive observer is key, otherwise your skills degrade pretty fast.

Then you look for a job in a company that uses metrics that actually matter and live a happy life.

Just look for companies with in-person Interviews. They mostly do this because they don't want AI brain rot. It's a green flag. (I didn't know I'd write such a sentence unironically lol)

That's the worst part. Those chats we're so much more usable If they stopped trying to sound human and instead give a higher information density. If I want human interaction I speak to a human.

There are useful applications of AI but seeing how it turned the world into an AI slop festival in less than a year I'm pretty sure the 'responsible' part is not gonna happen. Lol

Yeah, If you want to enforce agentic usage build a system made for those agents. Let the systems made for humans also have UX tailored to humans.

Good point, I was in the 'my setup is the one most people use'-mindset. That's why I really enjoyed the audio + a11y settings as the first thing that popped up move. I was like 'damn son, that's a really good solution to the problem'. :D

It's probably the most powerful thing out there but the last Time I checked it out there was outdated documentation and the example stuff did not work properly. So it's a lot of trial and error. But powerful tho

So what is the purpose behind this? Why is this a thing? Are you paid by BIG EARDRUM or what?

I've seen games giving volume controls before anything else goes on, I've seen games that start at 5% of max volume. Both were indie titles. Especially Hearthstone is a bad example. You can't even access the menu before you click through your billions of pop ups after a season finishes.

I have a question for the AAA game devs (and some indie devs) out there. Why are you so eager to blast the ear drums of the players of your games with such loud volume settings at the startup of your game?
