Biologist, very amateur photographer of local flora and fauna. I welcome corrections to my plant and animal ID's. All photos are my originals except where noted πΊπ¦
Thanks Scarlett π. You never know what you're going to see in the course of a day.

I was looking through my photo files to see what I could contribute to #arachtober and I ran across this giant lichen orbweaver. This beauty is straddling the tines of a plastic leaf rake. #spiders #nature #invertebrates #wildlife

28.10.2025 19:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Have you considered starting at least some indoors or in a sheltered location?

Ripening drupes of the native shrub, Walter's viburnum. This is a great evergreen plant to have in your yard, as the white flowers attract pollinators in the spring and the fruits attract birds in the fall. #nativeplant #nature π π¦ #gardening
28.10.2025 12:51 β π 48 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Youβre welcome. Contact me any time you have a question. Iβll be posting a lot more native plants, so be on the lookout.
27.10.2025 15:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0River oats are native to where I live in North Florida. If you can find seeds, they are easy to start. I started mine with one plant from an area native nursery and start more seeds every year. I did post a pic of them.
27.10.2025 15:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I grow them too, and highly recommend them. I keep mine in wetter areas.
27.10.2025 14:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Fabulous capture!

Unidentified spider that made a home on a Lobelia wildflower. I never realized how common this is until I started macro photography of wildflowers. It makes sense: let the prey come to you.
