I love that last question - "What happens when you die" - "I think your kids take your stuff." Made me laugh!

You need a bigger calendar.

Our property is lined in the front with October Glory Maple trees and they mean it! No color change until late October. Of course it is hardly Autumn until we get the first frost and the fig tree suddenly drops every single leaf in one night. That tree is such a drama queen.

I remember the sound of the modem connecting and I used punch cards to program payroll checks at work.

The service guy was nice and asked if there was anything else needing fixing on the washer to try to get me something for that hefty price I was paying for essentially him telling me I needed a new part and they had to order it. I see another "travel fee" is in my future.

Please support your rural small businesses, especially in these trying times. We needed one of the spray arms replaced in our commercial dishwasher and the "travel" fee just for the nearest service provider to get to us is over $500, that doesn't include parts and labor. #smallbusinesslife

I hate to see waste even if the ballroom deserves it. It should be turned in to the People's Hall of Liberty. Weekly dinners should be hosted where ordinary people from around the country can come to hear from their representatives and ask questions/get real answers. Civility will be required.

I don't think deer read the plant descriptions that mention "deer resistant." I keep trying to find the ones that they really leave alone! But if I find one that the deer don't like, the darn woodchucks get them.

Another art world casualty - received notice that MacPherson's Art Supply, a wholesale company relied on by small art supply stores, including our own, has suddenly shutdown. Anyone know of another US based company. MacPherson's was the largest.

From TFA:
"The nature of model train production further compounds the problem. These are not mass-produced items but highly specialized, low-volume products. The costs of tooling and engineering are spread across small production runs, meaning thereโ€™s no economy of scale to offset the tariffโ€™s impact. Whether a company produces 2,000 or 10,000 units, the fixed costs remain high, making any significant tariff increase devastating to the pricing structure."

This paragraph is the crux of everything relating to niche hobby industries and why every single hobby that relates to physical objects (specialized electronics, scale models, model railroads, gunpla, stitching, sewing) is either going to be heavily impacted or, more often than not, vanish entirely:

I can relate to that look. Those deer don't even respect the "deer resistant" moniker on plants.

Maybe the single serving pots are easy to pierce, but a full size yogurt container is tough! There is no way a knitting needle would work. Any one have a good tip to make quick work of these, which I have plenty of.

Yellow daffodils

Must add my obligatory daffodil pic. These are some early bloomers in the cottage house border at our inn, Greenville Arms 1889 Inn, in NY

There are 33m companies in the USA. Only 21k employe 500 or more. And they only make up 23% of workers.

Trump and Elon are ignoring the more than 32m entrepreneurs that can't afford to build a new factory or pay tariffs or absorb cancelled contracts.

We do that too, except that legally married spouses are also liable for the other's debts even if their name is not on the account. That is the problem.

Credit shouldn't automatically be assumed to be the responsibility of both partners. Married couples can still pool their resources in joint accounts, but be allowed to have separate and unconnected accounts.
