There was this one crazy essay by David Foster Wallace about how he was great at tennis as a high schooler in small town Illinois I think, because the wind made it unpredictable, despite him being not at all built for tennis, but great at math :)

If you're into that sort of thing, I highly recommend the audiobook! It's narrated by the author, and he does a brilliant job with all the accents, and is a superb narrator.

Also, new Westland book to add to your collection: Rama, Bhima, Soma which looks at the cultural trajectory of the last 30 years in Karnataka, and its written in English. Don't think a book like it exists in Kannada atm, not because readers don't exist, but publishers don't :(

Very similar situation to yours in that I'm functionally monolingual, and only bilingual with my mother and a few relatives.
Also feel very strange to think that in the India of 50 years from now, you'll have millions of people like me, almost a cosmopolitan elite, with English as mother-tongue.

And weirdly, isn't Bengali and Bangladesh this day was mooted in the first place?
