I do not want Pete Alonso on the Yankees. I just don’t think he is worth the potential cost. If anything, I’d prefer a Bellinger trade as the solution over signing him just for the lefty bat alone.

As for bats, you need all infield spots besides SS. I think a trade for Arenado *actually* makes a ton of sense for the right cost. That’s still a gold glove 3B even if he’s long in the tooth.

Trade for him, move Jazz to the OF, promote Durbin and find a quality 1B. Walker makes sense.

With that said, I think the correct pivot isn’t to spend $760 million elsewhere, but to use this offseason to effectively fix the rotation and the depth.

I’d like to see them make an effort to bring Burnes, Fried, Crochet or Flaherty to the Bronx. Maybe 2 of the options if they can swing it.

Here are some thoughts after having some time to process the Juan Soto news.

I am sad that the Yankees couldn’t retain him, but I do think the contract is extremely dense with a lot of risk. Still, I would have understood retaining him even if it meant 16 years of $48 million per.

Bills defense, after getting punctured the entire game, has a chance to get a crucial stop and give the Bills a chance to bring this to 3 points.

New rule: The NFL must send a warm-weather NFC team to Buffalo every December.

There was Dallas. Now San Francisco. The region demands a sacrifice.

The 49ers run outside of the tackles at a significantly higher rate than inside. I think that continues today with Juice leading a lot of those runs to the perimeter.

Then they’ll try to build off of that with PA shots to their stars, as expected. This 49ers team is banged up but still a threat.

I would pay attention to how often the 49ers plan to use any countering/misdirection in their run game similar to how Miami did a few weeks ago.

This is a Bills defense that is quite aggressive in their tackling and playing from depth, which works and can also be used against them.
